Ranieri: “Dovbyk? It wasn’t right to risk him”

Roma manager Claudio Ranieri shared his thoughts ahead of the match against Lecce in the 15th round of Serie A. Speaking to Sky Sport, Ranieri addressed several key topics concerning the team’s current situation and player availability.

Regarding Ryan Friedkin’s presence in Rome, Ranieri confirmed, “We certainly spoke, but those are things that remain between us. The team is ready, we want to see in December what we can do. It won’t be an easy game; Lecce has changed coach and earned 4 points in two matches. The game is delicate, but we must try to win.”

When asked about Pellegrini’s absence, Ranieri explained, “Physically, he’s doing very well, actually he runs even too much and needs to run less. He needs to be calm and serene. When I see him calm, the position will be his.”

Addressing the team’s mental state, Ranieri said, “In these three matches, the boys have shown they are fully available. They’ve understood the message and realized that by giving their all, the fans will support them. We must give everything on the field and accept the outcome. These boys need some positive results to return to doing what they know how to do.”

On Dovbyk’s absence, Ranieri clarified, “He has the flu and is congested, he didn’t feel up to it. It seemed right not to risk him. I hope he’ll be ready for the next match.”
