Roma coach Claudio Ranieri expressed his disappointment following the team’s 2-0 loss to Como, a result that leaves the Giallorossi in a precarious position. The defeat was marked by goals from Alessandro Gabrielloni and Nico Paz, and Ranieri acknowledged that his side lacked the desire to win.
“They had more will to win,” Ranieri stated during his post-match interview. “At the moment of the free kick, we made a mistake; we cannot afford to make errors like that. Como did everything to win, while we struggled to create problems for them as we did in the first half. Perhaps there is a bit of fatigue, but I don’t like to make excuses. I expected more from our first half performance.”
Regarding Artem Dovbyk, who has not yet returned to full fitness, Ranieri commented, “He’s not at 100%. I considered putting him in because we delivered many balls into the area in the first half, but we couldn’t manage that in the second half.”
When discussing potential changes to the squad ahead of the January transfer window, Ranieri said, “I am satisfied with the team’s work. If there is an opportunity to improve the squad, I will not hold back.”
Ranieri also addressed concerns about the team’s attitude but remained focused on moving forward. “It seems premature to talk about an attitude problem. Right now, we need to react and focus on advancing in the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria.”
