La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Monza are set to renew the contract of coach Raffaele Palladino. The 39-year-old was in charge of the clubs youth sector from 2019 before being promoted to the primavera role in 2021, The dismissal of Giovanni Stroppa in 2022 led to Palladino being appointed as head coach, and a series of impressive results has now ensured their safety in their debut Serie A season.
Since taking over the role, Palladino has been linked with a number of other Serie A sides, but La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the coach is set to be rewarded for his work by being offered a new contract. Speaking earlier in the year, clubs CEO Adriano Galliani said of Palladino’s appointment:
“The choice we made, President Silvio Berlusconi and I, is dictated by the fact that in our opinion Palladino has the makings of a great coach in him. Even when we chose Arrigo Sacchi for Milan, it was a courageous choice. I would compare Palladino’s choice very much to Sacchi’s.”
Gazzetta write that with the club now mathematically safe, attention will turn to securing the coaches future at the club, with Galliani recently quoted as saying:
“We are happy for the goal achieved and we dedicate it to the man who allowed Monza’s arrival in Serie A after 110 years of history and their stay in the top league: Silvio Berlusconi.”
“I put two prizes on the table for the team: one for 10th and one for 8th place. With Palladino, we will meet each other in the coming days, we will surely reach an agreement. I trust in his permanence.”
