Rafael Leao renewal talks today

Start

The entourage of Milan winger Rafael Leao’s are set to meet with Rossoneri management today in a bid to agree a contract extension. The 23-year-old’s current contract with Milan ends in 2024 but the club have been working hard to agree terms on a new deal that would see him extend his stay and improve his salary.

Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly very keen on the Portuguese international but Milan have made their stance on the winger very clear, insisting he is not for sale.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that a meeting is scheduled for today between Milan and Leao’s entourage with the Rossoneri expected to offer an improved contract that would see Leao earn between €5-7m net per season.

A stumbling block in the negotiations has been the compensation that Leao owes to Sporting Lisbon for the termination of his contract, which is expected to be around €20m.

Milan are expected to offer to offer some kind of arrangement that would see the fee paid off, but this would be reflected in a lower salary.
