Rafael Leao’s lawyer Ted Dimvula insists that his client ‘wants to stay at Milan’ and denied suggestions that they are trying to reduce his release clause. A damning report in yesterdays Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that talks between Leao and Milan had come to a standstill, suggesting the player had fallen out with club director Paolo Maldini when in negotiations over a new contract.
Milan officially denied the rumours published in the report via a brief statement, and when speaking to Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano, Dimvula also rejected the claims made in Gazzetta:
“There are many false and misleading informations about Rafael Leao, mainly in Italian press.
“This has only one aim: to parasitize cordial and professional exchange that we have with AC Milan management regarding the extension of Rafael’s contract.
“We are currently working together to find a satisfactory solution for all parties. The player’s priority has not changed: he wants to stay at AC Milan and continue to grow and progress in this institution and this city that he loves so much.
“We therefore firmly deny any desire on the part of Rafael and/or his entourage to lower his release clause in order to facilitate a departure of the player next summer.
“Rafael is fully focused on the important goals to come with his current club and wishes, in this difficult period, to be able to work in calm and serenity in order to get back to winning.”
