Rafael Leao: ‘I want to stay at Milan, it’s my home’

Start

Portuguese winger Rafael Leao reiterated his desire to remain with Milan: ‘I am at home, I am very happy here’. The 23-year-old has been in ongoing discussions with the Rossoneri over a new contract, and once again played a vital role for the team in their 1-1 draw with Napoli, a result that takes them through to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by MilanNews), Leao confirmed his wish to stay with the Diavoli and talked about his performance in the match, which included a remarkable defence splitting run and assist:

“Do I want to stay? Yes, but there are things to settle. At AC Milan I am at home, very happy to be here”

You did something similar to Gullit:

“Incredible. To do something similar to a player who made history with the Milan jersey… I am very happy with the work done by my team, we did an incredible job. We thank our fans, this victory gives us confidence to keep dreaming and aim forward in the Champions League.”

But is aiming forward really possible in your opinion?

“Now there are two semifinals before the final. That will be our ‘first final,’ and we go to play them with a lot of enthusiasm.”

“The coach? Pioli is the person who made me the player I am today. He had patience, he took my hand like a son. I have to thank him and also directors Massara and Maldini who made me the player I am today. Here at Milan I am at home and I am very happy to be here.”
