Rafael Leao introduced his autobiography, “Smile: My life between football, music, and fashion,” shedding light on his deep connection with AC Milan and his aspirations for the future. The unveiling took place at the Mondadori store in Piazza Duomo, where Leao addressed the audience, sharing insights into the book’s themes and his personal journey.
During the event, Leao revealed that despite his family’s allegiance to Benfica, his boyhood club never made a move to sign him during his teenage years. However, he emphasized the unwavering support he received from AC Milan, especially during his most challenging moments. This support played a significant role in his decision to stay with the Rossoneri.
“I could not leave Milan; they were always close to me, even during the most difficult moments of my life,” expressed Leao, who recently penned a new contract with AC Milan. Reflecting on his choice of the iconic Number 10 jersey, Leao explained, “I chose the Number 10 jersey because Alessandro Del Piero had it, but also many other champions who wore it and are my idols. The 10 is different; it is for players who bring something different to the pitch. I wanted to wear it because it was an important number in the history of Milan, and I feel that I am an important player too.”
Despite numerous rumors linking him with clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and more, Leao unequivocally affirmed his commitment to AC Milan when questioned about his future plans. “At Milan,” he stated firmly, reaffirming his dedication to the Rossoneri cause.
