Qatar Islamic Bank linked with Inter acquisition

Start

A report from Italian newsaper Il Giornale claims The Qatar Islamic Bank are interested in the acquisition Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have been linked with a takeover on a number of occasions in recent years, the most recent being from Century Capital who confirmed they had made a bid to buy the club.

Il Giornale now report about the possible interest from Qatar for the acquisition of Inter, outlining how they are not be a ‘classic’ investment fund, rather it would be the Qatar Islamic Bank itself who would be interested, whose president is Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

The newspaper also outline the upcoming expiry of the €350 million loan from Oaktree to Steven Zhang for the purchase of the club in 2021, with due date being May 2024.

Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who is only a namesake of the Paris Saint-Germain owner, had in recent months made a €6 billion bid to buy Manchester United, receiving a flat no in return.

It was reportedly Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, now settled in Qatar and a well-known Inter fan, who suggested diverting the bank’s capital to Inter.
