Paris Saint-Germain have not seen a deal accepted by Inter for the immediate transfer of Milan Škriniar, contrary to reports.
Škriniar, 27, has already signed personal terms with PSG for a future contract. The Serbia international’s deal at Inter expires this June and it is now definitive that he will move to the Ligue 1 giants at the end of this season.
PSG, however, have been pushing to accelerate the move and sign Škriniar in January despite the pre-contract agreement.
An initial €10m transfer bid was rejected with Inter seeking closer to €20m to rip up the final six months of Škriniar’s contract.
According to SportItalia reporter Tancredi Palmeri, an agreement regarding a fee has been found between the two clubs. PSG have offered €15m, which Inter, in turn, have accepted.
The sticking point, however, is Inter’s desire to find an immediate replacement for their centre-back. Reported late loan moves for Victor Lindelöf and Harry Maguire have already been rejected by Manchester United.
Merih Demiral has been linked with Inter throughout the window, as relayed by Foot Italia, but Atalanta have remained immovable in their €25m demand for the Turkish defender.
If Inter can find a replacement for Škriniar in time before tonight’s deadline, he will move immediately to PSG for €15m, alledges Palmeri. If they are unsuccessful in their hectic chase, however, Škriniar will stay at Inter until the end of the season and see out the remainder of his contract.
Fabrizio Romano has refuted Palmeri’s report and insists that no such agreement was ever close between the two clubs.
According to Romano, Škriniar will definitely stay at Inter following deadline day with a January move to PSG being almost completely off the table:
“PSG have never offered more than €10m to anticipate the deal now — Inter wanted €20m. No agreement & it’s collapsing, but he will join in June on free move.”
