Paris Saint-Germain have taken the lead in the race to secure the signature of Napoli’s coveted winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to multiple reports. The Ligue 1 powerhouse is acting swiftly to bring the Georgian star to the French capital, despite interest from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Italian media outlets Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport report that Napoli has set a firm asking price of €80 million for Kvaratskhelia. The Serie A club is reportedly unwilling to consider any player-plus-cash deals, insisting on a straight cash transaction.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that direct negotiations between PSG and Napoli are currently underway. In a bid to entice the 23-year-old, PSG has reportedly offered to quadruple Kvaratskhelia’s current salary if he agrees to join the club this January.
The situation has evolved significantly since last summer when Napoli coach Antonio Conte prevented Kvaratskhelia’s departure. However, with contract extension talks stalling and the team performing well despite the player’s recent fitness issues, both Napoli and Kvaratskhelia appear ready to part ways this transfer window.
While Liverpool and Newcastle have expressed interest in the talented winger, PSG remains in pole position to secure his services. However, the French club must still meet Napoli’s substantial financial demands to complete the transfer.
