Pobega: ‘I can play as full-back’

Start

Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega hopes his French teammates ‘return home with the cup’ and explains why he can fill in at left-back if needed. The Italy midfielder made the return to Milan in the summer after an encouraging loan spell with Torino but has featured sparingly so far. Speaking to Milan TV, he explained why it was good to get back on the pitch in their recent friendly matches and why he can play on the left:

“It was nice to return to playing. We needed this game to get playing time we are still not at our best, but we saw some signals, physically and tactically.

The coach asked me a few days ago if I could play as a full-back and of course, I agreed. There are some dynamics and movements that I am not accustomed to, but I give my best to play in the best way in this position.

We followed Theo and Giroud at the World Cup and I wish them the best, today, they’ll play a great game and I am sure they’ll put in the same levels of performance as in the previous matches. Hopefully, they’ll come back home with the club, ready to start again.

The friendly against Liverpool? It’s the first time I am in Dubai, we have it to visit the place because we’ve been very busy with games and training, we want to prepare for the next game at our best and end well.

The preparation is going well, the group is getting back together and we need a split team for the restart of the season.”
