Milan have secured qualification to the Europa League Round of 16 despite losing 3-2 to Ligue 1 side Rennes. Benjamin  Bourigeaud scored a hat-trick for the home side, while Luka Jovic and Rafael Leao found the net for Milan. Following the match, Pioli addressed the press via Sky Sport.

“We carry the satisfaction of overcoming a tough round; we expected a complicated match. They played intensely, and we secure an important qualification. Tonight’s game reaffirms our significant offensive potential, but we need to find more solidity and communication.”

“We must stand as a team; the Monza match didn’t go well, but now we focus on the upcoming challenges and regain energy. We want to give our all; in the league, we aim to catch up with those ahead of us. They won’t even be happy to face Milan,” Pioli continued.

Regarding Leao’s performance, Pioli remarked, “He’s important even when not scoring; he must keep working and believing in himself. The two penalty incidents? We need to be more careful and united.”

Pioli concluded with his thoughts on Jovic: “He knows how to involve the team with quality and can play with two strikers; he must continue demanding much from himself.”
