Following the Rossonerri’s frustrating scoreless draw against Cremonese, Milan boss Pioli expressed his thoughts regarding the fixture.
Despite having 73% possesion and 16 shots, as well as an XG of 1.30, Milan have failed to find the back of the net within their trip to the Giovanni Zini stadium.
While it seemed they were destined to score, a mixture of some brilliant saves from the promising shot-stopper Marco Carnesecchi and some poor efficiency within the offensive phased lead to Pioli’s side dropping points unexpectedly.
Consequently, Milan now find themselves eight points away from the league-leaders Napoli, with both Lazio and Atalanta trailing by only three.
While speaking to the media, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, Pioli provided his perspective on Milan’s performance against Alvini’s men:
There was a lack of precision, more decisive and more timely movements without the ball. We didn’t manage to be as dangerous as we said we were. We did fairly well in the first half, while in the second we created less and weren’t able to score
What did you say to the team?
Nothing, I hardly speak after the game. We are disappointed, me first. More push to do the next one better.
What happens with the little ones?
When you play with big teams there are more spaces, there are more freedom and more situations to work. With these spaces so closed we need some more individual play, but we didn’t succeed.
Now Fiorentina …
We got the shock tonight. We are not satisfied. We can do better and we will work to do better against Fiorentina; it will be a different game, tactically different, but with many pitfalls. We can do much better. ”
