Pecchia praises Empoli’s defence ahead of crucial match

Parma manager Fabio Pecchia shared his thoughts on the upcoming match against Empoli during a press conference this afternoon. The Crociati are set to face a tough opponent at the Tardini stadium tomorrow afternoon, and Pecchia was quick to acknowledge the strengths of Roberto D’Aversa’s side.

“We’re facing a team with the second-best defense in the league,” Pecchia stated. “Our challenge is to break down a well-organized opponent that has a certain type of work behind them and deserves their current position.”

The Parma coach highlighted Empoli’s recent performances, not just against Napoli but also in Rome against Lazio. He expressed admiration for D’Aversa’s clear tactical approach, saying, “I’ve always seen a precise and clear team. The field speaks for D’Aversa.”

Discussing his own team’s strategy for the match, Pecchia emphasized the importance of ball possession, quick counter-pressing, and exploiting speed. “For us, the game is about knowing how to keep the ball, how to press again, and play with speed, taking advantage of the quality in midfield and up front,” he explained.

When asked about the differences between D’Aversa’s current Empoli side and his Lecce team from last season, against whom Parma secured a victory, Pecchia noted some changes. “Compared to last year’s Lecce, which had an extraordinary start and was a vertical team, this year they have a different setup,” he observed. “However, the idea remains clear and precise.”
