Pavard Prioritizes Inter Goals Over Euro Dreams: “We Have Objectives to Achieve”

Start

Inter defender Benjamin Pavard  made it clear where his priorities lie as he focuses on club duties before contemplating the European Championship. Speaking from the French national team’s training camp at Clairefontaine, Pavard discussed the team’s early days together and the upcoming matches against Germany and Chile:

“It’s always a pleasure to return to the national team because there’s truly a great atmosphere here, and so it’s a pleasure to know that we’ll have two friendly matches that are important for preparing for the Euros. I’ve felt good since the first day. As a player, wearing the French jersey is a dream I’ve had since I was a child. It’s thanks to hard work that I’m here; I always remember where I came from, and I’ll never forget that.”

Regarding the upcoming fixtures, Pavard commented on the recent coaching change for Germany, stating, “Germany recently changed their coach. I know Nagelsmann very well; he was my coach at Bayern Munich. He’s an excellent coach tactically, and it will be nice to see him again, but I hope we’ll come out victorious in the end. They have a talented squad, and it will be an important match that many are anticipating. Then there’s Chile, an opponent I’m less familiar with, but we know their players. I know Alexis Sanchez, with whom I play at Inter, so they’ll be a challenging team to face.”

When asked about his thoughts on the European Championship, Pavard emphasized his commitment to Inter Milan’s objectives. “As for the Euros, I’m not thinking about it. With Inter, we have objectives to achieve. I have to finish the season with Inter before thinking about the European Championship.”
