Pavard: ‘I never said I wanted to leave Bayern…’

Start

Bayern Munich full-back Benjamin Pavard has confirmed that Inter made a bid for him in January but he’s ‘not the type to leave mid-season’. The Frenchman is a self-confessed fan of the Nerazzurri and has expressed his affection for the club in previous interviews, saying he would one day like to play in Serie A.

Inter had been linked with the 26-year-old in recent months, given that his contract with the German champions ends in 2024 and he is yet to agree a new deal. Speaking with Sport1 (as quoted by FCInter1908), Pavard opened up about the transfer links, but insists his future is not certain and he has never said he wants to leave Bayern:

“I am determined to give everything for the club and the team and I want to win as many titles as possible with Bayern.

“The offer from Inter? I’m not the type to leave mid-season. My goal was definitely to stay at Bayern. I am determined to give everything for the club and the team and I want to win as many titles as possible with Bayern.

“The future? I never said I wanted to leave. I know very well that I am at a very big club where there is everything. Whether it’s the team, the physiotherapists, the managers, there is a fantastic atmosphere everywhere. I feel very comfortable here, I like the club and the fans and I hope we can do great things this season.”

Pavard has been with the Bavarians since 2019, making 148 appearances over four seasons and scoring 9 goals in all competitions.
