Manchester United are on the verge of completing their first major signing under new manager Ruben Amorim, as Patrick Dorgu prepares to bid farewell to Lecce. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Danish defender, who has been a standout performer for the Italian club, is scheduled to fly to Manchester on Saturday morning to undergo his medical examination and finalize his contract with the Red Devils.
Dorgu’s transfer to Old Trafford marks the end of his successful stint with Lecce, where he has impressed since joining from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2022. The 20-year-old left-back was included in Lecce’s squad for their recent match against Parma at the Tardini Stadium, although he did not feature in the team’s victory. This gesture allowed Dorgu to say his goodbyes to his teammates and the club’s staff before his departure.
The deal, which was agreed upon earlier this week, will see Manchester United pay an initial fee of €30 million, with the potential for an additional €7.5 million in bonuses. This transfer represents another significant financial success for Lecce’s sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, known for his ability to identify and develop young talent.
