Reports from Italy suggest that Parma’s efforts to bolster their midfield with Gianluca Gaetano have encountered a significant hurdle. The club’s bid to secure the Napoli midfielder has been turned down, as the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Parma had offered €8 million for Gaetano, a 23-year-old midfielder, along with a percentage of any future resale and potential bonuses. However, Napoli remains firm on their valuation, demanding €12 million euros for the player.
Despite the rejection, Parma remains interested in Gaetano, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cagliari. During his stint at Cagliari, Gaetano made a notable impact, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 20 Serie A appearances.
As the situation stands, Napoli’s refusal leaves Parma in a position to either increase their offer or explore alternative options. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Cagliari, or any other club, will re-enter the race for Gaetano, who is under contract with Napoli until 2027.
