Parma manager Fabio Pecchia addressed the media following his team’s 1-1 draw against Venezia in the 21st round of Serie A at the Tardini stadium. The coach provided insights into player performances, tactical decisions, and controversial moments from the match.
Pecchia began by addressing the fatigue of some players, particularly Sohm and Bonny. “We need to play the matches, and now we need energy. We have to seek it from everyone, especially with all that’s going on around us, including transfer market rumours. Nevertheless, Sohm stayed on for ninety minutes,” he explained.
The manager expressed satisfaction with the performance of his central defenders, Valenti and Vogliacco. “We worked very well as a team, just like in Genoa and Turin. They found outlets on the flanks. I’m happy for Vogliacco, but what I liked most was the response from everyone, the desire to stay involved,” Pecchia stated.
Discussing his halftime instructions, Pecchia revealed, “The technical discussion came into play. They closed up well. Without fluid ball possession, the situation becomes complicated. We entered the second half differently due to different characteristics. We didn’t concede anything, maintained control with clarity and quality. We created many situations, and their goalkeeper made great saves.”
When asked about the whistles from fans at the end of the match, Pecchia responded, “I applauded as I usually do towards the stands, I went out and greeted those who greeted me. I was caught up in Fourneau’s explanation and went to the locker room.”
A contentious moment in the match involved Candela, who was already on a yellow card but avoided a second booking. Pecchia commented, “It’s there for everyone to see and analyze. It’s an assessment that must be made by those in charge. I protested a lot and asked for explanations, but that’s how he saw it.”
The coach also praised the impact of substitute Camara: “I’m happy, he has quality, and I like to see him play. He always determines and creates something. He came on well, just like in Genoa. And he never backs down. He’s young and needs to be managed, like all the others.”
Pecchia concluded by expressing his overall feeling about the result: “There’s bitterness, not disappointment. We missed a red card for Candela? It’s obvious to everyone.”
