A report in La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus midfielder Leandro Paredes argued with coach Max Allegri and is certain to leave the club in the summer. The Argentine joined the Bianconeri on loan in the summer, but has failed to find a place in the starting XI, dropping down the midfield pecking order to feature largely as a substitute.
La Gazzetta write that Juve’s Easter Monday began with an open training session, with a number of fans present at the Continassa training centre, however Paredes was seen to leave the pitch shortly before lunch.
The newspaper writes that a ‘heated argument’ took place between the player and Allegri in front of most of the whole team, so much so that Paredes, later calmed down by some of his teammates, eventually did not even take part in the lunch.
Gazzetta point to a ‘mix of frustration and disappointment’ for the midfielder, and a situation that ‘had been brewing in recent times’, partly due to his sending off at San Siro against Inter, shortly before the break. From disappointing performances, a lack of playing time (just 1086 minutes total, just 170′ since February), being left on the bench and to being overtaken in Allegri’s hierarchies by youngster Enzo Barrenechea – The situation finally erupted yesterday.
The future of the 28-year-old Argentine is certain to end with his return to PSG this summer, and he is more and more likely to spend his last months with Juventus at Continassa, rather than be part of the team. After several wasted chances by the player, who was never fully convincing and continuous in Turin, Allegri set his sights on Manuel Locatelli and Barrenechea and Cherubini decided not to redeem the former Roma and Empoli man. The elimination of Allegri’s team in the Champions League group stage made Juventus’ redemption obligation for Paredes lapse: It’s €20m that, in fact, Juve have already decided to divert to Davide Frattesi (Sassuolo), a hot and increasingly concrete target for the La Signora’s 2023-24 midfield
