Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino expressed his satisfaction with the team’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. In his post-match press conference, Palladino emphasized the importance of such challenging wins for the team’s development.
“It was a tough, scrappy victory. The match was difficult, and I want to compliment Genoa and their fans because it was very challenging to play in this stadium with such supportive crowd,” Palladino stated. He added, “These are the victories that give you satisfaction. We needed a win like this, showing true grit. These are the victories that make us grow and give us great morale and confidence.”
When asked about the team’s current league position, Palladino maintained his focus on the upcoming match against Torino, stating he prefers not to dwell on the table. He praised the team’s growth and emphasized the importance of maintaining humility.
Palladino highlighted the team’s solidarity, mentioning a moving pre-match speech by defender Martinez Quarta. “Quarta said some beautiful things that remain in the locker room, and it shows the strength of this group. It wasn’t easy to create this magic that’s forming within the team,” he revealed.
The manager also commended individual performances, including those of De Gea, Gosens, and Sottil. He expressed particular joy in the team’s offensive capabilities and overall balance, stating, “I’m happy because this is a team of great solidity. In today’s Serie A and modern football, you need to defend and attack together. We’ve reached a balance, and we must continue like this.”
Palladino also touched on his commitment to nurturing young talent, mentioning the debut of 18-year-old Rubino. “Italian football needs this courage,” he asserted.
Lastly, he praised striker Lucas Beltran’s recent performances, noting, “I’m really happy for Lucas because he’s a guy who struggled a bit at the beginning, and I always said I believed in him. We’ve used him first as a left attacking midfielder and then as a striker. Lucas is a second striker, putting him in that position has freed him up, and I’m happy because he’s giving a great hand to the team.”
