Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino offered his thoughts following his team’s 3-0 loss to Napoli in Serie A. Despite the disappointing scoreline, Palladino remained optimistic about his young squad’s potential for growth.
“We approached the game well against a very strong team, and I must congratulate Napoli. They deserved this victory and were more clinical in punishing us,” Palladino stated. He acknowledged Napoli’s control during the middle portion of the match but expressed regret over conceding the third goal, which he felt “cut our legs off.”
Addressing the errors that led to the defeat, Palladino emphasized the learning opportunity it presented: “Errors help us grow. Only by making mistakes can we analyze and work on improving. It’s my job to analyze every small detail that we’re not executing properly.”
The manager highlighted his team’s youth and inexperience as factors contributing to the loss. “We have many young players who need to gain experience and develop,” he explained. “We defended well because we were aware of their rotations, but we weren’t good at regaining possession and instead gave the ball back to them. We’ll work on this.”
Palladino also discussed his tactical approach, explaining the decision to use a back three: “The three-man defense was a function of the opposing team. We’ve had a great run with the 4-2-3-1, but the 3-4-3 is within our capabilities.” He believes the team played well technically for long stretches, despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise.
Looking ahead, Palladino emphasized the need to focus on the details and move forward. “It’s difficult to accept this 3-0 result. The boys deserved at least one goal for what they did, but we need to look ahead and understand our strength, with everyone putting in something extra.”
