Palladino on win against Roma: “I’m already thinking about the Genoa match”

Start

Following Fiorentina’s emphatic 5-1 victory over AS Roma in Serie A’s ninth round of fixtures, manager Raffaele Palladino shared his thoughts on the match and his team’s performance. The win propelled Fiorentina to joint fourth place in the league table, level on 16 points with Atalanta, Lazio, and Udinese.

Palladino began by discussing his approach to coaching and the team’s recent tactical adjustments: “A coach must make changes when he realizes that the players need something different. I’m fortunate to have very intelligent players. We’ve found a team identity, some automatisms, a more comfortable fit. It’s not my merit; I’ve just tried to help them.”

When asked about specific player performances, Palladino was reluctant to single out individuals, preferring to praise the collective effort. However, he did mention Yacine Adli’s contribution: “He’s a player who gives you dynamism and quality. But tonight I don’t want to talk about individuals; I congratulated everyone. If I have to praise someone, I want to compliment the young 2005-born Comuzzo.”

The topic of Edoardo Bove’s potential permanent transfer to Fiorentina was raised, but Palladino deflected, stating, “Redemption? Ask the club. I’m already thinking about Genoa, who we’ll face on Thursday.”

Despite the impressive victory and Fiorentina’s current league position, Palladino remained focused on the immediate future rather than getting carried away with the table standings: “I don’t look at the league table because I’ve never done it. It doesn’t interest me. I only look at the next match; I can’t even enjoy the victories. We play again in three days.”
