Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino addressed the media following his team’s 2-2 draw against Monza, expressing both satisfaction with the team’s resilience and acknowledging areas for improvement.
Reflecting on the match, Palladino stated, “Let’s talk about the half-empty glass first: the first 20 minutes were very positive, with the right attitude, and it wasn’t an issue of approach. But at the first ball put inside, we conceded a goal and became afraid to play. That shouldn’t happen, and I’m interested in the reaction – that’s what I need to work on.”
Despite falling behind 2-0, Palladino praised his team’s spirit: “We could have collapsed, but instead we stayed in the game. We did well to reopen it, we were in control of the match, and I had the feeling we could equalize at any moment. It’s a shame we did it at the end. But I liked the spirit and sacrifice; it’s a team with great human values.”
Looking ahead to the international break, Palladino sees it as an opportunity: “The break comes at the right time. We started with a squad that has 11 new players who need time to settle in. Five more arrived two days ago… We need patience. From Tuesday, we’ll start working on everything, and that’s when the growth process that interests me will really begin. I’m convinced that when we return, we’ll see a more prepared Fiorentina, one that controls the game to give joy to the fans.”
When asked about the transfer market, Palladino expressed satisfaction: “I’m happy. I feel I have a quality team with high-level players who need to be put in order a bit. I know the club was also looking for another defender, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we weren’t able to get one. But I have confidence.”
