Okafor: ‘I didn’t have any doubts about joining Milan’

Start

New Milan signing Noah Okafor says he had no doubts about joining the Rossoneri as he believes the team can be ambitious this season. The Swiss international joined the club on a five-year contract and gave his first official press conference earlier today:

“Yesterday (Sunday 6 August) was my first time at Milanello. A great feeling. I met most of the team in LA and they have welcomed me. I had already played against Sammy and our families know each other. It’s nice to see him again.”

“I’ve fully recovered from my injury. I think that my first session went well. My role? I’ll play where the coach wants me to. I spoke to him; I can play in all three positions in attack and I am ready and willing.”

“Life moves fast sometimes and it’s like that in football too. I had two intense games against AC Milan last year and now I’m here. I’m really happy to be here. The team is fantastic and the Club is amazing.”

“I’ve spoken to Giroud a lot; he’s been helping me a lot, Leão as well. They are great people and I think we’ll be a great group all together. I stayed in touch with Rafa after the times when we faced other for Club and country; I got on with him straight away. He’s a positive guy and a great player. I can’t wait to get going and work hard so I can improve, day by day.”

“We’ll decide with the coach and the staff if I can play tomorrow against Monza. It’s a big game for us. We’re a strong side. We have a lot of quality on and off the pitch. We can be ambitious and have a big season. I don’t like to lose. We have a good team and we’ll use training to grow and be at our best so that we reach our goals.”

“I had a few different options but the offer from AC Milan was impressive. A team with a lot of history with good young players. It was clear for me from the start; I didn’t have any doubts. I spoke to Pioli a lot and he rated me. I hope to repay his faith.”

“I would like to thank the fans. I can’t wait to see them and celebrate a goal with them at San Siro.”
