Udinese have confirmed that the club has parted ways with coach Gabriele Cioffi and replaced him with Fabio Cannavaro. A statement on the clubs official website read:
Udinese Calcio announces that Gabriele Cioffi has been relieved of his position as head coach of the first team.
We’d like to thank Gabriele for his professionalism and the work he has done over the last few months. We wish him all the best in the next steps of his career.
The club would also like to thank his staff, Cristiano Bacci and Gilberto Ribeiro Andrade, for their commitment.
They’ve also confirmed that Cannavaro has taken over as head coach:
Fabio Cannavaro is the new coach of the Bianconeri. Udinese Calcio is pleased to welcome the World Cup champion and Ballon d’Or winner of 2006 who will lead the team until the end of the sports season. He has signed a contract until June 30, 2024. There is no need to recall the exploits on the field of one of the greatest players in the history of Italian football. Cannavaro is a young and well-prepared coach of international stature who has already had the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities abroad as well.
The club has identified in his on-field experience, technical skills, and undisputed leadership the suitable figure to lead the team to the objective of salvation.
Mister Cannavaro will be accompanied by his brother Paolo as assistant coach and Francesco Troise as technical collaborator.Furthermore, it is with great pleasure that the Bianconeri family welcomes back an Udinese legend like Giampiero Pinzi.
For him, after the glorious pages of our history written as a player, it is a return to the Bianconeri technical staff of which he was already a part from 2019 to 2022.
Pinzi returns to bring all his baggage of experiences and skills along with his love for our colors.The new staff will lead the first training session this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
