Sassuolo have officially confirmed the signing of Urugyuan striker Agustin Alvarez from Penarol on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old was linked with a move to the Neroverdi in recent months, despite having the interest of Manchester City and others.
Sassuolo have confirmed his signing via a statement on the clubs official website in a deal thought to be worth €12m plus a €2m in performance-related bonuses. Penarol will be due 20 percent of any future sale value of the player.
Alvarez flew in for his medical earlier in the week having scored 34 goals and provided 10 assists in 89 appearances for Penarol.
