Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille have confirmed that Ruslan Malinovskyi has joined the club on loan with an option to buy from Atalanta. The move had been on the cards for some time, as the 29-year-old had been looking to leave La Dea since last summer, with Tottenham Hotspur also closely linked with a move.
Marseille confirmed the move with a post on their social media accounts, beating Spurs to the Ukrainian international.
Atalanta released a brief statement of their own regarding the move:
“Atalanta B.C. would like to sincerely thank Ruslan for his commitment, his sense of belonging to the club and the significant contribution he has made in three and a half seasons donning the black-and-blue shirt, wishing him all the best in this new professional experience.”
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Marseille can make Malinovskyi’s move permanent in the summer for a reported €10m fee plus €3m in add-ons.
