Roma have officially completed their goalkeeping roster following the departure of Mathew Ryan a few days ago. The announcement comes as the team returns from a disappointing 1-0 defeat against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. Pierluigi Gollini, who arrived in the capital yesterday, has now officially become a new Roma player.
The club released an official statement: “AS Roma is pleased to announce the permanent signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta. Born in 1995, the goalkeeper has made 139 appearances in Serie A, wearing the colors of Hellas Verona, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Napoli, and Genoa. He will wear the number 95 shirt for Roma. Welcome to Rome, Pierluigi!”
Gollini was on loan at Genoa since the beginning of the season but remained Atalanta’s property. He had been in a competition for the starting spot with Leali, which had effectively cost him his position. Atalanta terminated the loan with Genoa and accepted Roma’s offer for a permanent transfer worth 1 million euros. Gollini has signed a contract with Roma until June 30, 2027.
