OFFICIAL: Pierre Kalulu joins Juventus

Start

Juventus have completed the signing of Pierre Kalulu from AC Milan, marking a significant transfer within Serie A. The 24-year-old French defender joins the Bianconeri on an initial one-season loan with an option to buy, in a deal that could potentially reach €20.3 million.

Kalulu’s move to Turin comes after four seasons with AC Milan, where he established himself as a versatile defender capable of playing both as a center-back and right-back. During his time with the Rossoneri, Kalulu made 112 competitive appearances, contributing three goals and three assists.

The structure of the transfer reflects Juventus’ strategic approach to squad building. The initial loan fee of €3.3 million will be paid in two installments, with the option to make the move permanent for €14 million, payable over three installments. Additional performance-based bonuses could increase the total value of the deal by up to €3 million.

This transfer represents a significant profit for AC Milan, who originally acquired Kalulu from Olympique Lyonnais for just €1.39 million in 2020. However, injuries limited his playing time in the 2023-24 season, and he found himself out of favor under new Milan coach Paulo Fonseca.

For Juventus, Kalulu’s arrival strengthens their defensive options under new manager Thiago Motta. The Frenchman’s ability to play multiple positions in defense could prove valuable as Juventus aims to compete on multiple fronts this season.

After completing his medical in Turin and signing the contracts, Kalulu will wear the number 15 jersey for Juventus. His move to the Bianconeri marks a new chapter in his career and adds an intriguing dimension to the rivalry between Juventus and AC Milan.
