OFFICIAL: Napoli welcome Scuffet as Caprile heads to Cagliari

Start

In a significant move for both clubs, Napoli have officially announced the arrival of goalkeeper Simone Scuffet from Cagliari. The 28-year-old shot-stopper joins the Partenopei on a loan deal that extends until June 30, 2025, adding depth to Napoli’s goalkeeping options as they aim for success in Serie A and beyond.

Scuffet’s transfer comes at a crucial time for Napoli, who have been looking to bolster their squad. Having previously played for Cagliari, where he gained valuable experience, Scuffet is expected to serve as a reliable backup to the starting goalkeeper, Alex Meret. The two share a connection, having both risen through the youth ranks at Udinese, and their familiarity could prove beneficial for the team.

As part of this player exchange, Elia Caprile will make his way to Cagliari on loan with an option to buy. This move allows Caprile the opportunity to gain more first-team experience, something he has been seeking after spending time as a backup at Napoli. The agreement includes a buyout clause estimated at around eight million euros, which could see Caprile become a permanent fixture at Cagliari if he impresses during his loan spell.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis welcomed Scuffet with open arms, stating, “Welcome Simone,” signalling the club’s optimism about the new addition. The management is hopeful that Scuffet can quickly adapt to his new environment and contribute positively to the squad.

Scuffet’s arrival is not just about filling a gap; it reflects Napoli’s strategic approach to building a competitive team capable of challenging for titles. With the season progressing and various competitions on the horizon, having a strong and versatile goalkeeper like Scuffet will be essential for maintaining performance levels throughout the campaign.

As for Caprile, his move to Cagliari represents a fresh start where he can establish himself as a key player. Under the guidance of coach Davide Nicola, who previously worked with Caprile at Empoli, there is optimism that he will thrive in his new role and become an integral part of Cagliari’s plans moving forward.
