OFFICIAL: Milan appoint Sergio Conceicao

Start

AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of Sergio Conceicao as the new head coach of the men’s first team, marking the end of Paulo Fonseca’s tenure at the club. The Portuguese tactician has signed a contract that will keep him at the helm until June 30, 2026.

Official Statement

The club released a statement welcoming Conceicao: “AC Milan announces that Sérgio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição has been appointed as the Head Coach of the men’s First Team until 30 June 2026. The Club extends a warm welcome to Sérgio and his staff, wishing a journey full of success and fulfillment.”

Contract Details

Milan has exercised a clause that requires payment for only the first year of Fonseca’s contract, given his dismissal after just six months. This paved the way for Conceicao’s appointment, with the former Porto manager having already signed his new contract with the Rossoneri.

Arrival and First Steps

Conceicao arrived at Milanello in the early afternoon, where he met with the club’s management, including Giorgio Furlani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Geoffrey Moncada. He also had his first encounter with the squad before beginning preparations for the upcoming Italian Super Cup semi-final against Juventus, where he will face his son Francisco.

Coaching Staff

The new Milan coach brings with him a comprehensive staff:

– Assistant Coach: Siranama Dembélé
– Goalkeeping Coaches: Vedran Runje and Diamantino Figueiredo
– Sport Scientist: Eduardo Oliveira
– Additional Assistants: Fabio Moura and João Costa

Tactical Approach

During his successful stint at Porto, Conceicao established himself with clear and well-defined playing principles. He predominantly employed 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formations, emphasizing aggressive pressing and ball recovery in the opposition’s final third.
