OFFICIAL: Lazio Confirm Sarri’s resignation; Martusciello Named as Replacement

Start

Lazio has officially announced the resignation of Maurizio Sarri, with his assistant Giovanni Martusciello stepping up to replacement him at the Biancocelesti’s head coach.

Sarri’s departure comes in the wake of three consecutive defeats for Lazio, amid strained relations with President Claudio Lotito and certain factions within the team.

The club confirmed Sarri’s resignation on Wednesday morning, revealing that Martusciello would assume the role of interim coach. However, it remains unclear whether Martusciello will remain in charge for the remainder of the season.

With the coaching position open, several names have been floated as potential candidates, including Igor Tudor, Raffaele Palladino, and former Lazio striker Miroslav Klose. Both Klose and Tudor are currently unattached to any club, while Palladino is contracted to Serie A side Monza.

In acknowledging Sarri’s departure, Lazio expressed gratitude for the accomplishments he achieved during his tenure and for his contributions to the club. They wished him well in his future endeavors, both on and off the field.
