Serie A side Lazio has officially announced the acquisition of midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru from Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor. The 23-year-old Nigerian joins the Italian capital club on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
The transfer agreement includes an obligation to make the move permanent if certain sporting conditions are met. Reports suggest that Lazio has paid approximately €2 million for the loan, with an additional €4 million to be paid if the purchase option is exercised.
Dele-Bashiru, who joined Hatayspor as a free agent at the beginning of the previous season, is currently under contract with the Turkish club until 2026. However, he would be approaching the final year of that deal at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Italian sources had previously reported a €7 million release clause in the player’s Hatayspor contract, indicating that Lazio has successfully negotiated a more favorable deal. The young midfielder arrived in Rome on Thursday to complete the necessary medical examinations and contract formalities.
Prior to his move to Turkey, Dele-Bashiru began his career in England, coming through Manchester City’s youth academy before joining Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in 2020. This transfer to Lazio marks a significant step in his career, offering him the opportunity to showcase his talents in one of Europe’s top leagues.
