Juventus and Mattia Perin have officially agreed to continue their journey together. The Turin-based club has announced the renewal of the 32-year-old goalkeeper’s contract, who first joined the Old Lady in 2018 and has remained with the team since, except for a brief loan spell at Genoa during the 2020-21 season.
Perin has extended his contract with Juventus until 2027, maintaining his current salary of 1.5 million euros per season. This development was hinted at by Perin himself during a press conference before the UEFA Champions League match against Stuttgart, where he stated, “My contract renewal? I’m talking with the club, and there’s a desire to continue from both sides. I’m very happy. There will be news in the coming days.”
The news has indeed arrived as promised. It’s now official that Mattia Perin will continue his adventure with Juventus until June 30, 2027. The contract renewal was announced today, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, following his impressive performance against Stuttgart the previous evening, where he saved a penalty kick, although it wasn’t enough to prevent the team’s first defeat of the season across all competitions.
Perin had previously expressed his role in the team, saying, “I don’t feel like a second-choice goalkeeper but a co-starter, and it’s the coach and the club that make me feel this way. It’s up to us to prove through our work that we are all potential starters.” He also emphasized the importance of having all players available, given the demanding schedule.
Since the beginning of this season, Perin has already played four times between the league and Champions League. He has been with Juventus since 2018, except for an 18-month loan spell at Genoa from January 2020 to the summer of 2021. In total, he has defended Juventus’ goal in 51 matches with charisma and commitment.
