OFFICIAL: Juventus excluded from 2023-23 Conference League

Start

Juventus have officially been excluded from the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League and ordered to pay a €20m fine. The verdict is in relation to alleged financial irregulates from the Bianconeri, meaning they will sit out next seasons edition of the competition, while Fiorentina will take their place – €10m of the fine is conditional and will only be enforced if the club’s annual financial statements for the financial years 2023, 2024 and 2025 do not comply with UEFA regulations.

An official statement from UEFA read:

“The CFCB First Chamber concluded that Juventus (ITA) violated the UEFA’s regulatory framework and breached the settlement agreement signed in August 2022. As a result, the CFCB First Chamber terminated the settlement agreement concluded with the club and decided:

“To exclude Juventus from the 2023/24 UEFA men’s club competition;

“And impose an additional financial contribution of €20 million on the club. Of this amount, €10 million is conditional and will only be enforced if the club’s annual financial statements for the financial years 2023, 2024 and 2025 do not comply with the accounting requirements as defined in Annex G of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Regulations.”

Juventus had entered into discussions with UEFA to accept a sort of plea bargain that would allow them to reach an agreement with European football’s governing body. The club have also opted to withdraw from the ill-fated Super League competition in an effort to build bridges with UEFA once again.
