OFFICIAL: Juventus complete Michele Di Gregorio signing

Start

Juventus have officially announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from Monza following his medical examination at JMedical this morning. The Italian goalkeeper is set to defend the Bianconeri’s goal under new manager Thiago Motta, while the future of current goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny remains uncertain.

The Turin-based club released an official statement detailing the terms of Di Gregorio’s transfer:

“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. has reached an agreement with AC Monza for the temporary acquisition of Michele Di Gregorio’s sporting performance rights until June 30, 2025, for a fee of €4.5 million. The agreement includes an obligation for Juventus to permanently acquire the player’s rights if certain conditions are met during the 2024/2025 sports season.

The agreed fee for the potential permanent acquisition is €13.5 million, payable over three financial years, plus additional charges of €0.8 million. This amount may increase by up to €2 million during the player’s contract, subject to the achievement of specific sporting objectives.

Given the high probability of these conditions being met, the operation is considered a permanent acquisition for accounting purposes, effective from today, for a total amount of €18 million. The final accounting evaluation of the operation will be completed for the Half-Year Report as of December 31, 2024, scheduled for approval in February 2025.

This significant move by Juventus demonstrates their commitment to strengthening their goalkeeping options as they prepare for the upcoming season under new management. The arrival of Di Gregorio also raises questions about the future of Szczesny, who is reportedly on the transfer list.”
