OFFICIAL: Inter crowned champions 2023-24

Start

Inter Milan secured their 20th Serie A title in the 2023-24 season with a pivotal victory over their city rivals, AC Milan, in the fiercely contested Derby della Madonnina. This triumph grants them the prestigious honour of wearing two stars on their jersey, signifying their status as champions of Italy.

In Italian football tradition, a star adorns the jersey for every 10 Serie A titles a club wins. Until now, only Juventus had earned the privilege of wearing more than one star. However, Inter’s latest victory has etched their name into the annals of Italian football history.

The race to the summit of Serie A was fiercely contested between the two Milanese giants, with both clubs entering the season tied on 19 league titles each. However, it was Inter who reached the milestone first, courtesy of a crucial head-to-head victory in the derby.

This historic achievement marks Simone Inzaghi’s inaugural Serie A title as a coach. Inzaghi, who previously tasted success in domestic cup competitions with both Inter Milan and Lazio, now adds the coveted Scudetto to his managerial accolades.

Throughout the season, Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri dominated the Serie A table, holding the top spot for the majority of the campaign. Their only momentary setback came after a draw with Bologna in Week 8, briefly relinquishing the lead to second place.

While Inter may not match the record-breaking 102 Serie A points achieved by Antonio Conte’s Juventus, their campaign stands as a testament to consistency and excellence. With 27 victories, five draws, and just one defeat, their sole loss coming at home to Sassuolo, Inter’s journey to the title was marked by formidable performances.
