Inter have announced that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has officially renewed his contract with the club until 2026. It comes on the back of teammate Federico Dimarco announcing his contract extension with the Nerazzurri until 2027.
Mkhitaryan was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but has reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to extend his contract with Inter by another two years. Speaking with the clubs official website, he explained his reasons for remaining:
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Inter are staying together; what does this renewal mean to you?
“I’m really happy. Inter have given me so much in the past one-and-a-half years and I want to give even more. I hope to win a lot of trophies with this Club.”
You arrived without fanfare but have quickly become a key member of this group: how proud are you to be a part of it?
“I’m really proud because this is a great group. We’re doing everything to reach our aims and win trophies.”
You’ve played for some big clubs and have a lot of experience, but you’ve improved even more as a player here at Inter. How much have you grown in recent seasons?
“I’m still improving and I won’t stop. It’s nice to learn each day by training and playing with my teammates.”
You seem tireless out on the pitch, an example of dedication and sacrifice. What’s your secret?
“Working hard each day because I know these are the final years of my career. I want to do it all and win. I’m doing more than 100% and am giving everything.”
What’s been the best moment you’ve had with Inter? How much hunger is there to reach new milestones?
“There’ve been so many great moments and I want more in the coming years.”
You’re a favourite of the fans: what does this affection mean to you?
“It means that I’m giving a lot to the team. I want to make the Inter fans even more proud.”
