OFFICIAL: Danilo Bids Farewell to Juventus, Set for Flamengo Move

Start

Juventus have officially announced the termination of Danilo’s contract, bringing an end to his five-and-a-half-year tenure with the club. The Brazilian defender, who had been heavily courted by Antonio Conte’s Napoli, is now poised to return to his homeland and join Flamengo.

The Bianconeri released a statement on their official channels, expressing gratitude for Danilo’s contributions during his time at the club. The 33-year-old leaves Turin with an impressive record of 213 appearances and nine goals, having won one Scudetto, two Coppa Italia titles, and one Supercoppa Italiana.

Danilo’s journey with Juventus began in the summer of 2019 when he was part of a swap deal with Manchester City involving João Cancelo. He eventually rose to the position of captain, a role he held until recently. His final appearance for the club came against Venezia on December 14, 2024.

The current season proved challenging for Danilo, as he struggled to find his place under new manager Thiago Motta. He made only 12 appearances in Serie A, with just six as a starter, and featured four times in the Champions League.

Upon the official confirmation of his contract termination, Danilo will be free to choose his next destination. Despite serious consideration of Napoli’s offer, family reasons ultimately swayed his decision to return to Brazil and accept Flamengo’s proposal. He is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Rio de Janeiro-based club.

This move marks the end of Danilo’s European adventure, which began with Porto before taking him to Real Madrid, Manchester City, and finally Juventus. As he prepares for this new chapter in his career, both Juventus and its fans bid farewell to a player who has been a model of professionalism and commitment throughout his time in Turin.
