Start

Como have made a significant move in the transfer market, securing the services of French goalkeeper Jean Butez from Royal Antwerp FC on a three-year deal. The 29-year-old shot-stopper joins the Italian club after a stellar performance in the 2022-23 season, where he played a crucial role in Antwerp’s historic domestic treble, keeping an impressive 27 clean sheets.

Butez’s journey to Como began in Lille, France, where he started his football career with FC Merris before joining Lille OSC’s youth academy in 2003. His professional path led him through Royal Excel Mouscron and eventually to Royal Antwerp FC in 2020, where he quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper.

Como’s head coach expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing, highlighting Jean’s consistency and leadership from the back as qualities that will greatly benefit the team. His experience and shot-stopping abilities make him a valuable asset as the club continues to strengthen its squad.

The French goalkeeper shared his excitement about the move, stating he is delighted to be joining Como 1907 and that it’s a dream to play in Italy. Butez sees this transfer as a significant step forward in his career, following his success in Belgium. He added that it’s a project in which he can see himself developing over the coming years.
