Como have officially announced the signing of Assane Diao from Real Betis. The 19-year-old winger, recognized for his exceptional speed, versatility, and goal-scoring prowess, has joined the club on a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Como until the end of the 2028/29 season.
Born in Ndongane, Senegal, and raised in Spain, Diao quickly rose through the ranks of European football. He began his career in the youth academies of Badajoz, Flecha Negra, and Balón de Cádiz before making his way to Real Betis in 2021.
During his tenure at Real Betis, Diao made 28 appearances in La Liga, contributing significantly with goals and assists. Notably, he scored a memorable equalizer against FC Barcelona in December 2024. On the international stage, Diao has represented Spain at various youth levels, including the U19 and U21 teams.
Cesc Fàbregas, head coach of Como 1907, expressed his excitement about Diao’s arrival: “Assane possesses a combination of speed, technical skill, and an eye for goal.
