Lazio have officially confirmed the signing of Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia from Salernitana. The Biancocelesti have reportedly reached an agreement with both Salernitana and Dia’s representatives, paving the way for the transfer.
The deal will see Lazio include young defender Fabio Ruggeri in the transaction, enhancing the package offered to Salernitana. Initially, Diego Gonzalez was expected to be part of the deal, but he has been replaced by Ruggeri, a promising 19-year-old who has developed through Lazio’s youth ranks since 2019. Although Ruggeri has yet to make his first-team debut, he has been a regular for the Primavera squad and will now have the opportunity to gain experience in Serie B with Salernitana.
Dia, who joined Salernitana in 2022, had a stellar first season but faced challenges last year as the club was relegated to the second division. His relationship with the Salernitana fanbase has soured, particularly following a controversial goal celebration in a recent Coppa Italia match that led to some ultras chasing his car. This tumultuous situation has prompted Dia to seek a fresh start at Lazio, where he hopes to revitalize his career.
