Bologna have officially completed the signing of Dutch forward Thijs Dallinga in a deal worth up to €27 million. The 23-year-old arrived in Bologna yesterday before completing his club medicals and putting pen-to-paper on a four-year-contract.
A statement on Bologna’s official website confirmed the signing:
“Bologna FC 1909 announces the permanent acquisition of striker Thijs Dallinga from Toulouse FC.
Dallinga becomes the eighth Dutch player in Bologna’s history. He is a technically gifted center-forward with an excellent goal-scoring record, having netted 73 times in the last three seasons. Possessing an imposing stature and physique, Dallinga excels in link-up play and is effective outside the penalty area. He boasts an enviable scoring repertoire, finding the net in various ways, including headers and acrobatic finishes, while demonstrating good movement and an ability to read crosses.
Capable of playing as both a classic striker and a supporting forward, Dallinga made his mark in the Dutch second tier with Excelsior at 21, becoming the league’s top scorer with 36 goals. He was voted the best player in the championship and helped secure promotion to the Eredivisie.Toulouse then acquired him for Ligue 1, where he played a crucial role in the club’s first-ever major trophy, the French Cup. Dallinga finished as the top scorer in the competition with 6 goals in 6 appearances. In his second season with Toulouse, he improved his league goal tally and gained international recognition, making his debut for the Netherlands national team against Gibraltar.
Dallinga also impressed in European competition, scoring 4 goals in 8 Europa League matches, including a brace against Liverpool. He concluded his final season at Toulouse with 19 goals and 5 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.As of July 2024, Dallinga joins Bologna, bringing his goal-scoring prowess to the Rossoblù.”
