Bologna have officially confirmed the signing of Dutch centre-back Sam Beukema from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar. The 24-year-old arrives on a permanent basis and the Rossoblu have released a statement confirming his transfer:
“Bologna Fc 1909 announces that it has acquired outright the right to the sports performance of defender Sam Beukema from Alkmaar Zaanstreek.
The seventh Dutch player in our history, he is a right-footed central defender born in 1998, skilled in marking and possessing excellent individual technique. Coming off an important season at a high level with AZ, between the league and cups he made 44 appearances, contributing to the red and white’s ride to the Conference League semifinals and fourth place in the Eredivisie with the third best defense overall. Always deployed as a right midfielder, he has matured greatly since his debut year in Alkmaar: dominant in the aerial game, he always shows good readings and can play the ball between the lines. Previously, he trained in the Go Ahead Eagles of Deventer, his hometown, before moving in the summer of 2021 to AZ, which he now leaves after 81 games and 6 goals between domestic league and European cups.”
