Bologna have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Remo Freuler on loan with an option to buy. A statement on the clubs official website confirmed the news:
Bologna FC 1909 is happy to announce that Remo Freuler has arrived at the Club from Nottingham Forest FC until 30 June 2024, he joins on loan with an option to buy.
The seventh Swiss player in Bologna’s history and a mainstay of the National team, Remo is a right-footed midfielder capable of playing various positions: good at interceptions, clear in build-up play, he is an untiring expert. A pillar of the spectacular Atalanta headed up in recent years by Giovanni Sartori, he spent seven seasons in Bergamo, time that also included successes in international competitions such as the Europa League and the Champions League. With Gasperini’s Nerazzurri Freuler was a central part of the midfield making over 200 appearances, with ample experience upfront as evidenced by his 21 goals between league and cup games. He also captained the team occasionally in 2021 following Toloi’s absences. In the summer of 2022 he moved to a newly-promoted Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, leaving Atalanta as the record holder for appearances in European competitions (40, with 2 goals in the Champions League against Valencia and Villarreal), and after a season in England, playing 28 games as part of a midfield trio, Freuler returns to Serie A to be alongside the Rossoblù.
