Start

Bologna have secured the services of Davide Calabria on loan from AC Milan until June 30, 2025. The 28-year-old right-back embarks on his first venture away from the Rossoneri after 11 seasons with their first team.

Calabria, born in 1996, is renowned for his exceptional dynamism, speed, tactical acumen, and endurance. His journey with AC Milan began over a decade ago when he was brought into the senior side by coaches Inzaghi and Mihajlovic following his impressive performances at the youth level.

As he matured, Calabria established himself as a cornerstone of the Milan defence, consistently featuring in 30 to 40 matches per season. His reliability and consistency earned him recognition as one of Italy’s top players in his position.

Between 2020 and 2022, Calabria’s talents were recognized at the national level. He trained at Coverciano under Coach Maldini, earning seven caps for the senior Italy side after previously representing the U21s on 19 occasions.

Calabria’s career at Milan saw him debut in both the Europa League and Champions League. He eventually rose to become the team’s captain and gained the full trust of manager Stefano Pioli, often being preferred over teammates Abate and Conti.

The 2020/21 season marked a turning point in Calabria’s career. His performances reached new heights as he showcased his ability to disrupt opposition play, mark diligently, and deliver precise long balls. He played a crucial role in AC Milan’s return to the Champions League and their subsequent Scudetto victory in the following season, contributing with 26 appearances and two goals.

In the current 2024/25 season, under managers Fonseca and Conceicao, Calabria has made seven league appearances, scored once in the Coppa Italia against Sassuolo, played in five Champions League matches, and featured in the Supercoppa Italiana final, which Milan won.
