OFFICIAL: Arthur Joins Girona on Loan

Start

Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo has officially completed his move to Spanish side Girona on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. The Brazilian international departs Turin after a challenging period with the Bianconeri, seeking to revitalize his career in La Liga.

Girona emerged as the frontrunner for Arthur’s signature in the final days of the January transfer window, outbidding Brazilian club Santos with a more favorable salary coverage. The Spanish club has agreed to contribute a substantial portion of Arthur’s wages, making the deal attractive for Juventus.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined Juventus from Barcelona in 2020, has struggled to establish himself in Italy. After spending the previous season on loan at Fiorentina, where he made 48 appearances across all competitions, Arthur found himself frozen out of the Juventus first team in the current campaign.

Juventus confirmed the move in an official statement, wishing Arthur luck in his new adventure. The loan agreement does not include an option to buy, meaning Arthur will return to Turin at the end of the season unless further arrangements are made.

For Arthur, this move represents an opportunity to play regular football and potentially reignite his career. Girona, currently enjoying a strong season in La Liga, will hope that the Brazilian can bring his technical skills and experience to bolster their midfield as they push for European qualification.

The financial details of the transfer reveal that Juventus will receive a loan fee of €0.7 million, with additional costs amounting to €0.2 million. This arrangement allows Juventus to offload a portion of Arthur’s salary while giving the player a chance to showcase his abilities in a competitive league.
