Sampdoria have officially confirmed the appointment of former Juventus and Fatih Karagümrük coach Andrea Pirlo. The legendary Italian midfielder has been in talks with the club for the last few days and news reports in Italy earlier today suggested he was close to being appointed. Sampdoria have now officially confirmed the news via a statement on their website:
“U.C. Sampdoria announces that it has appointed Andrea Pirlo as head coach of the first team until June 30, 2025.
“At the same time, the club informs that it has appointed Nicola Legrottaglie as head of performance and Lorenzo Giani as head of scouting.
“The media presentation conference of the new coach Pirlo and the new head of performance Legrottaglie will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, June 28, at 4 p.m. as part of The Ocean Race Genova – The Grand Finale, at the Genova Hospitality Hall.”
