Lazio manager Marco Baroni expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance following their 3-1 victory over Napoli in the Coppa Italia round of 16. Speaking to Mediaset after the match, Baroni highlighted several key points about his squad’s development and individual performances.
The coach began by praising Elseid Hysaj’s contribution, stating, “Hysaj had a great game tonight. He’s a player who isn’t on the list but has always helped us. Today I wanted to reward him, and he really responded well on the field.” Baroni emphasized his contentment with the team’s interpretation of the game and their successful progression to the quarter-finals.
Regarding Tijjani Noslin, who scored a hat-trick, Baroni said, “He’s a player I’ve worked with before. When we discussed what we could do, we saw that he was a player in line with the club’s parameters.” The manager highlighted Noslin’s versatility across the offensive front and his strong work ethic, adding, “We’ll give him space and time to grow.”
Baroni also addressed the team’s overall development, stating, “We’re a team that needs to play with the ball because we have quality. The players quickly understood our guidelines and what we wanted to propose.” He emphasized the importance of considering all players as starters, rejecting the notion of “second-string” players. “These are players who always provide excellent performances whenever they take the field, even in the Europa League,” Baroni explained.
When asked about Lazio’s rapid progress, Baroni attributed it to the team’s receptiveness to his approach from day one. “It’s beautiful to coach this Lazio, and this growth of the players is their merit,” he said. However, he also noted that there is still ample room for improvement, adding, “We can still grow, and we must do so.”
